Mantasoa, originally "Soatsimanampiovana" which means "unchanging beauty", it is also the village of Jean Laborde, a Frenchman who ran aground on the east coast of Madagascar before building an industrial city in 1837. He imagined and created an artificial lake to regulate the course of the river. The dams were used, among other things, to protect the plain and rice fields from flooding. The reservoir was used to operate carpentry, foundry, ironwork, earthenware, stationery and soap workshops. This man is a great historical figure in Madagascar because he created a lot of jobs, which served the population a lot. We left to visit the village with a local guide.
